When is the next The Cell Phone Junkie Podcast?

If you’re wondering when the next TCPJ will be posted, we should be recording it late Monday night. Those of you on the East coast will wake up to it on your podcatcher Tuesday morning…

Nice day

While summers in Phoenix, AZ are generally very warm, there are things about them that I love. The new house that we moved into last month has a pool, and thi is a requirement for anyone that wants to enjoy a Phoenix summer. We have had some monsoon action over the past few weeks, so the humidity has been higher than normal. However, today feels pretty darn nice at 99 degrees, and the pool is perfect. It’s hard to complain about much at this point. Ok, maybe one thing, when will sling get a client out for Blackberry!!!

Another msmobiles.com podcast appearance

I was fortunate this morning to spend time on the msmobiles.com podcast.  The discussion included the following topics

— video calling in USA

— HSDPA in USA compared to HSDPA in Europe

— Windows Mobile 6 ROM upgrades for various phones

— new programs for Windows Mobile released recently

— new Windows Mobile phones released lately

— ExpressCard notebook cards for cellular data connectivity mobile Internet – usage in Mac Book and in Windows XP and Windows Vista and other notebooks

— other news related Windows Mobile phones

Head over to the msmobiles.com site to download and listen.  Also, you can add the URL to your podcatcher to download it with each new episode.

New Blackberry 8830 OS

This update relates to multiple phones that Blackberry has, but it applies directly to me on the 8830.  Head on over to the smithmicro site and pick it up.  The install for me was very quick and I was happy that there were no issues like I have had in the past with some Windows Mobile devices.

So far the only real advantage that I can find is that it now includes A2DP in the bluetooth stack, so I am able to listen to my music wirelessly.  There is also the comment that it unlocks the SIM slot so you can use any SIM card with it.  I tried to use my T-Mobile card which works in my Nokia phones, but the 8830 didn’t recognize it.  Not sure what that is all about, but maybe someone can verify.

Appearance on the Mobility Today Podcast

While putting together the content for the next The Cell Phone Junkie show last night, I got a Skype call from Dave Ciccone.  As it turns out, I was being called live during the recording of the Mobility Today Podcast!  Head over to Mobility Today to download the latest episode.  I come in during the last 6 minutes or so.  Very fun!

I-35 bridge in Minneapolis

For those of you that haven’t heard about it, a major bridge on Interstate 35W in Minneapolis collapsed this afternoon over the Mississippi River.  Those of you that know me know that I am from Minneapolis.  I have called family and it appears that everyone is safe and sound.  It appears that God was watching over my family and friends tonight!
