Maybe I’m behind the times, but I just recently got onto Facebook. Go ahead and look me up and add me as a friend. I like it much more than “My-spam”.

I received the following email today and thought it was worth sharing:
“Cell Phone Junkie
I just wanted to drop a quick note to let you all know what a great job you all have been doing with the podcast. I really enjoy listening every week and I’m learning some great stuff about the wireless industry.
Every time I listen to the show I can’t help but wonder, how many cell phone junkie listeners are out there? Do you all have any specific numbers on the size of this podcast community or downloads?
Keep up the good work!
Kyle
McLean, Virginia”
Kyle, glad you enjoy the show, thanks for writing in The answer to your question is, there are lots of other cell phone junkies out there! There is tracking software that tells me how many people download the show, and we average somewhere around 1000 per show. Sometimes we have more (we have multiple thousands before on shows that have popular guests on them) and of course sometimes (such as weeks with holidays) we have less. The thing that I like though is that even though we are relatively small in comparison to many of the other podcasts out there, I love the interaction that I have with the listeners (like you) that email, call and generally take time to correspond. It is great to know that there are people out there that not only like listening, but like phones enough to write in!
Promotion!
Over the past 2 years, I have been working on learning as much as I can in hopes of finding myself in an expanded role with additional responsibility. Well my hard work and patience have paid off and if all goes well in the next few days, I will find myself in that position next Monday! I’m very excited and can’t wait to get going with it!
UPDATE-I’m in! I was contacted today by my new boss and I was offered this position. Starting there Monday, can’t wait!
On the way to Denver
I’m sitting at the airport (I love that Phoenix International has free wifi) wiating to board my flight to Denver for the weekend. I’m looking forward to getting out of the heat for a few days, and I know Sunday will come quick, but it will be nice to get away!
Have a great weekend everyone.
Robert Dotson, CEO T-Mobile USA
I had the pleasure this afternoon of speaking with T-Mobile CEO Robert Dotson. He was out to one of the retail stores here in the Phoenix market, and so I was able to talk some business with him for a few minutes. Unfortunately, it was all business (pesky day job) and I had no opportunity to talk about The Cell Phone Junkie with him. What a great guy he is though, very impressed by his level headed views on the future of thier company. With a leader like Mr. Dotson, I expect great things from them in the future!
p.s. No I didn’t ask him about the upgrade to HSDPA…not appropriate for the conversation…

I realized that i forgot to post this on my blog. I made this for a contest over at Mobility Today and thought I would share it. Some cell phone humor for midweek.
Rain!
After what seemed like an eternity, we finally are in our monsoon season here in Phoenix. Last night we got over an inch of rain in our Cave Creek house. Great to see some precipitation for a change!
